Domenico’s & Gondola Getaway Signage | 23”x23”

I designed this signage for Domenico’s, one of the oldest restuarants in Long Beach in collaboration with Gondola Getaway, a tourist focused business that offers gondola crusies through the canals of Naples Island in Belmont Shore. They wanted to create a 23”x23” signage to be to be printed and displayed in front of Domenico’s restaurant on 2nd St. that highlighted their collaborative gondola experience that came with food provided by Domenico’s.

With that in mind I wanted to emphasize the collaboration using visual heirarchy and a bold thick typeface to grab the viewers attention, keeping in mind this would be viewed from the front of the restuarant with people walking by. I then wanted to display all the information about the collaboration including what the cruise entails, the kind of food that would be provided and finishing it with a call to action by providing their phone number where people can book their cruise. I wanted the viewer to read this in a natural way, reading from top to bottom so I displayed all the information on the left side. As for the background image, I used a picture from one of the crusies that the client provided to accurately represent what the cruise would look like. I edited the image to create this painted-like effect to make it a bit more artistic rather than using the photo as is and as a result it created these blank color blocks that I was able to set the text in and made the text legible and easy to read on the eyes.
